Artist’s

Standard

1. James Blake
Listening to James Blake transports you into a world of calm and euphoria. With a voice that could melt even the hardest of hearts James so perfectly brings together a sound that is so unique and beautiful. Popularity for James has risen in the Australian music scene with his last concert selling out in less than 60 seconds.

2. Iggy Azalea
Born is Australia, Iggy born Amethyst Amelia Kell moved to the states when she was only 16 in order to pursue a career as a rapper. The release of her debut album The New Classic has seen Iggy rise to fame with performances such as the MTV Music Awards and the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. Iggy’s provocative lyrics leave few with a bad taste in their mouth however she has accumulated a large fan base who she refers to as ‘Azaleans’ Whilst her music may be ‘out there’ for some it tells a story, her story of hard work and dedication which got her to where she is today.  Rapping in a thick American accent has caused much hate however personally I think it adds to her performance and image.

3. Willow Beats
The Melbourne based duo are making a huge splash in the Melbourne music scene. Willow Beats have skyrocketed since there hit ‘Alchemy‘ was featured on popular radio station Tripple J. The electronic act feature soulful vocals from the female lead and heavy bass progressions.

Web Series

Standard

1. Comedian’s In Cars Getting Coffee
Created and written by Jerry Seinfield, this web series follows Jerry and his friends as they ride in classic cars to cafe’s. The series shows an accurate portrayal of the celebrities in an every day surrounding. The series is shot to make the viewer feel as if they are included in this personal and intimate conversation. The concept behind the series is so raw and unique to many others, it has given a twist on what would be just another interview.

2. Burning Love
Celebrity filled and hilarious, this web series mocks reality shows such as The Bachelorette and The Bachelor. If your in the mood for something funny and light-hearted this web series is for you. With celebrity cameos it is sure to keep you entertained and on the road to procrastination.

3. Between Two Ferns / Funny or Die

Created and hosted by comedian Zach Galifianakis this web series has gained a following and hosted celebrities such as Justin Beiber, President  Obama, Richard Branson & many more. Having a celebrity filled show has given this web series an advantage above most. This series appeals to anyone wanting a good laugh and a look at celebrities put out of their comfort zones.

Websites

Standard

1. Project Free Tv
A site with all your streaming needs in one place, does it get much better? Project Free Tv allows users to stream their favourite Tv Shows and movies direct to their laptop. The sites reliability and punctuality keeps them at the top of their game. The sites simple layout allows users to navigate with ease.

2. Tumblr
Founded in 2007 by David Karp, Tumblr is considered a social media outlet, it allows its users to post numerous photos and posts to their page. Unlike many other blog building sites Tumblr is quite simple and basic making it easy to navigate. The custom layouts allow users to create unique blogs that represent their post and ideas.

3. Facebook
Facebook has changed the way in which we interact with one another and has become a major part of people’s lives today. With over 1,310,000,000 users worldwide the site dominates over all other social media sites. Personally I find Facebook useful for interacting with peers from school and work. It is particularly useful for creating groups and keeping up to date with others in that particular group. Whilst Facebook is becomingly commonly known for its ‘rubbish’ content it can serve as a useful source of information and news. This however depends on what you decide as a user to follow.

Game’s

Standard

1. Banjo Kazooie / Nintendo 64
Created and released worldwide in 1996 the Nintendo 64 remains a cult favourite in many homes today. Personally it is my favourite gaming console due to the variety of games and multiplayer function. Banjo Kazooie, released two years after the Nintendo itself is a cult favourite of Ninetendo users everywhere. The game which features a bear (Banjo) as the man character offers players a wide variety of levels.  Despite the colour characters and pg nature of the game it still appeals to adults, and gives its users a sense of nostalgia which makes it that much more fun.

2. GTA IV / Playstation
Created by Rockstar games GTA is one of the most popular games in the entire world. Filled with non-stop action, violence and missions the game offers users an alternate reality where committing crimes is rewarded and killing people is all in the day of life of many of the characters.

3. Free Tetris / PC
Warning: Addictive. Free Tetris is so simple yet difficult for even the most skilled. Many hours I have wasted on this game. The idea and objective of the game is quite simple however as your progress so does the difficulty. Created by Alexey Pajitnov the game was released in mid 1984.

Films

Standard

Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore
I first saw this movie when I was younger so at first I didn’t really understand – well, pretty much any of it. I have now seen this movie over five times and it is one of those movies you could watch over and over because each and every time it is just as shockingly truthful and brutal as the last. I recommend this movie to everyone, it’s a must see. In fact I’ll even go as far as to say that all of Michael Moore’s are a must see.

The Goonies
Richard Donner
If you haven’t seen this film then I insist you stop reading my blog, go download, hire (if that exists anymore) – do whatever it takes to get your hands on this movie. This is an 80’s classic that you just must see. Its got everything you’ll ever need in a movie; adventure, crime, friendship and courage. As a kid this movie made even the impossible seem possible. “Goonies never say die.”

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Tim Burton
This is hands down my favourite film of all time. This has been and will always be my favourite movie. No movie will ever affect me the way this movie did. Tim Burton transported me as a kid into a magical world in which he envisioned and brought to life. In order for a director and creator to do this he must be so talented and creative. As a kid I wanted to live in Halloween Town. The world Tim created was like none I had ever seen or imagined. I still watch Tim’s movies today and what surprises me the most is that his animations still have the power to make me forget I’m watching animation and during that time I feel like what I’m watching is real, I know that might not make sense but do yourself a favour and watch this movie, you won’t regret it.

Tapped Out
This has to be one of the most addictive games I have played to date. When I first began playing this game I found myself spending hours just trying to progress and gain more xp. I eventually started to take the iPad with me, just so I could play when I was away from the house. It is a lot like other mobile games in that it requires you to wait in real time while the character finish their missions. For example if I made Lisa ‘Do next week’s homework’ it would take 24hrs to complete. This makes the games painful at times because all your characters may be busy and therefore there is nothing you can actually do. Overall I enjoy this game and although I don’t play it as often as I used to, it is still fun to check up on my town from time to time.

VSCO Cam
At first I was reluctant to start using this because it appeared overly complicated and confusing. However after a few attempts I did get the hang of it and now I use it to edit any and every picture I post on Instagram. The filters featured on this app are more refined than those of Instagram, they make your picture look so much cleaner and more professional. In my opinion VSCO rivals Instagram in so many ways, firstly it is much cleaner and professional looking, secondly it offers more editing tools and filters and thirdly it also allows people to create galleries filled with their own images. I would recommend this app to anyone looking for a photo editing app to give their images an edge over the rest.
Below are some pictures I have edited using the VSCO app.

Instagram
My most used and accessed app in my entire phone.  I use this app multiple times a day, even if I am not posting pictures, I’ll spend time flicking through my news-feed looking at what others have posted. I love Instagram because its image based, seeing images and creating them appeals so much more to me than text. I prefer this app over Facebook, Twitter and any other popular apps. Although the app doesn’t offer as many features as the VSCO does, I still choose to upload my photo’s here because it is free and because its easier than starting over again.
Below are a few pictures form my personal Instagram account.

YouTube Channels

Standard

Maru
A YouTube channel dedicated to a rambunctious cat. The adventures this cat gets himself into will leave you with a large smile from ear to ear. Maru is one of the cutest cat stars of YouTube, his videos attract thousands of views and his channel has over 400,000 subscribers. I know what you’re thinking; he must be one cute cat.
Take a look for yourself.

Nicole Guerriero
Here’s my guilty girly pleasure. Nicole Guerriero’s channel features more makeup tutorials than any girls will ever need. I love watching these to get inspiration as well as guidance on particular products. Nicole offers an honest approach to her reviews unlike other beauty bloggers I have come across. Nicole has a large over the top personality that keeps you interested and watching. With over a million subscribers, Nicole is definitely making a successful career out of her YouTube channel.

Vice
Okay so here’s where it gets a little serious, well almost. Vice YouTube channel offers some intense hard-hitting, mini documentaries. The documentaries are targeted toward a younger audience with some confronting drug, war and bazaar cultural traditions. I find these mini documentaries bearable unlike a lot of others. Vice have definitely catered toward their younger audience by making them so short and by using young presenters. Watching someone a similar age to me makes it more relatable and also more interesting when they put themselves in dangerous positions or even go as far as to test the drugs in which they are researching.

Electronics

Cannon 1100 D
My camera is a new addition to my electronic family. It is a great camera for anyone starting out with a DSLR and takes breathtaking photo’s. I haven’t got around to using it as much as I would like but I have taken a few shots and filmed a short teaser. So far I am very impressed and feel like I cannot live without it.

Hp Envy 6
My laptop, my source for all entertainment and happiness. What would I do without my laptop? A great laptop for someone like me who doesn’t use too many programs at once. It’s a great size and is easy to take to uni, which is a massive plus for someone like me. Stylish and sleek with its black and red body, but yet so functional with its battery life and convenient size.

HTC One Mini
This is a definite step up from my previous phone. The battery life is amazing compared to a lot of other popular smart phones on the market. The camera quality is insane and the size is just right for someone like me with tiny hands. I am yet to have any major problems with this phone; it has become a necessity in my day to day routine. I cannot even imagine life without my phone. How did I ever figure out train timetables? Or restaurant addresses?

T.V Shows

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo
TLC
I know what your thinking, because I used to think it to. Honey Boo Boo isn’t as bad as you think, I was shockingly surprised when I sat down to watch my first episode, its actually really hilarious. I have yet to watch an episode where I haven’t laughed hysterically. The show features child beauty pageant contestant Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson and her entire family.  Honey Boo Boo is by far the funniest child star in reality television, not to mention her outrageous family members. I can see a lot of people watching this and being horrified, but at the end of the day we all fart, we all fight and we all say crazy shit once in a while (We’re just not being filmed). The show is unapologetically raw and the family is 100% real. It’s actually somewhat refreshing to see a reality show where the cast hasn’t gone through 2 hours of makeup before they begin filming and there is no multiple takes.

Girls
HBO
This has to be the most accurate television show I’ve seen. Written and Directed by Lena Dunham the show follows a group of twenty something girls around New York. The show is a comedy-drama which makes it so easy to watch, as opposed to a strictly drama. The layout and structure of each episode is so simple and perfect. Each character is believable and relatable making it feel like your own life at times. I would recommend this show for anyone looking for a lighthearted comedy.

American Horror Story
FX Networks
American Horror Story captured me from the first time I saw it. The quality and standard of the show is unbelievable. With a directors dream cast consisting of Jessica Lang, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Dylan McDermott and in the recent season Kathy Bates. AHS is one of those shows that you cannot stop watching once you have started, its addictive in all the right ways. I wouldn’t recommend it for the squeamish as its gore filled and terrifying in so many ways.
See for yourself.
